Brown & Gold Sports Digest returns
The Brown & Gold Sports Digest has returned with a new format,a new resolve, and new features.
For those that remember the original versions of the Brown & Gold, you will remember that we
spent most of our time covering games and reprinting game stories.
This time around we plan to change from that model and instead become more of feature,
interview and highlight publication. Our belief is that you can get game stories and results several places, but what we want to offer, you cannot find readilyavailable except through this
newsletter.
It is our hope that we will become the “voice” of the Valparaiso Crusaders. A place where fans can find information and interesting conversation
about their teams, recruiting, highlights of past contests, conference standings and results and even NCAA news.
Our plan is to publish weekly (on Tuesday) from August through May, then twice a month during June and July. Our coverage will include not
only the major sports everyone thinks about, football, basketball and baseball, but ALL sports supported by the Valparaiso University
athletic department. From soccer to softball, swimming to cross country, track and field to
volleyball, they all will have an equal place here.
I think you’ll find that the features
we have planned will be both informative and enjoyable, at least we hope so.
Obviously we will be a work in progress for a while as we fine tune the newletter and find out
what types of things you want and need to know about your university.
Just so you know, NO we are not part of the university itself. We don’t work for them, nor are we beholding to them for our
existence....HOWEVER, we plan to be cooperative and will never knowingly do anything that will
jeopordize our relationship with the coaches, staff or administration at Valparaiso University. It has always been and continues to
be our policy that we would never do anything that would hurt the university or a student athlete. That being said, neither will we
hide information that we feel needs to be reported. Although we feel our job is to be a positive reflection of the university and it’s
athletes, we also realize that there are things that might arise that the university would rather not be reported. In that case, we will
regard it just as the other news media will and report it in the same way.
Delivery of the Brown & Gold Sports Digest will be by e-mail in a .pdf format. You can download
a FREE Adobe Reader at the Adobe website that will allow you to read the publication if you
don’t already have the reader.
If you need a hard copy of the newsletter, you have two choices. The first is to print it when it arrives and the second is to pay the postage and I’ll mail it to you each week.
We believe we can provide a service that others cannot. Therefore we are going to give it our best and hope that you enjoy
our efforts. Your suggestions, your ideas and even your criticism will be critical in making this a successful venture.
